Star Wars: Midi-Chlorians EXPLAINED?

Midi-Chlorians, the worst thing ever. They destroyed Star Wars. They ruined our childhood. They.... well... did they? Really?

Lets keep this short as not to beat around the bush.

The problem is not what the Star Wars Prequels brought to the table, the problem is peoples short sighted perspective. Which then means it is their problem and not the lore, as they are the ones that never understood it to begin with. So lets get to it.

1) Midichlorians are in everyone and everything, they bind the universe. Some have more, some have less.

Is this is no different to the classics?

In the classics the force is in everything, but only some are strong in the force.

"The force is strong in you" and other similar remarks, with a stretch even the notion that Luke is their last hope points to the simple fact that how strong the force is does not reside to chance alone or training, but also the individual.

Some are stronger, some are not. Such notions as "the force is not biological and anyone can train in it" that have fans upitty wapitty flaky funky cranked are more from conceptions created in games and other lore aside from the films that some could not be justified or compared to the lore in the classic films. Hence, should be as much debunked as the prequels but apparently are not.

Not that this is not true, but it also does not in any way reduce the fact that some simply will be born stronger in the force. The notion also some have kept, that Luke trained from nothing as a nobody into the force hence anyone can do it is also wrong (although a good inspiration for children looking up at a reachable hero on a symbolical level). Clearly, he was not some nobody.

"The Force is strong in my family, my father has it, I have it, and my sister has it".

Have what exactly? Call it what you will, they have something that others do not!

Even in the classics people are born with it. We clearly see that just because Leia and Luke are Anakins' children, they are force sensitive and strong in the force. Is that not biological? Is that any different to what Midi-chlorians explained?

2) The Jedi order was centuries old, it had archives, an established foundation and an entire force sensitive populace that was involved in nothing more but the force.

This is translated into reality and science. What the ancients called "we are all one" could easily be described by today's scientists as "we are all made from the same stuff, and once we were all but 1 or 2 elements when the Big Bang occurred".

One does not contradict the other. On the contrary, the second supports the first. It is evidence from a far more advanced human race by comparison that is able to research beyond the limitations experienced prior to that period.

End of the day, people that cannot accept midi-chlorians are no different to those cave people that can't accept a scientific theory simply because it makes things "too real" for them. On the contrary, those scientific theories or experiments can prove the very existence of their own beliefs and add to them.

This can translate just fine into Star Wars as well. The prequels and the classics add to the same structure of the force. The Jedi order were simply much more advanced and had been able to accumulate actual proof of the force, not just "a feeling" of it.

Maybe this was a little too evolved for some people? In all seriousness I personally put two and two together on the go so it baffles me as to how it was such a huge issue, hence now I am here to keep it short and simplify things for some to wrap their logic around something so simple.

From the go, as soon as we knew that we are going into a film were the Jedi are an established order of generations, I expected to see as much and their technological or scientific prowess in all things around the force did not surprise me at all.

On the contrary, I would be really angry if they depicted them as some dogmatic religion with people in robes that had little depth in what their teachings were about.

As promised, I kept it short. I can go on and on, but really whats' more to say? Midi-chlorians can really be explained from these 2 points. The one point justifies its existence due to different time periods (and technology) the other proves it works the same way in both classics and prequels.

I only hope that, as George Lucas said, the force isnt turned into some googly goop going forth.

Not one bit happy about this, but I can let it slip by in a sense that the technology of the
Jedi was lost and hence we really don't have midi-chlorian references any more.
End of the day, no matter what film studios claim, the Prequels are canon,
and that wont change any time soon. Thank the force...

Sure, I can understand that some might be annoyed that "too much is explained" about something they considered mystical and what not. But that is a matter of personal opinion really, and not something objective, hence not something wrong with the Prequels neither the logical fact that the Jedi knew more about the force even on a scientific level.

As far as subjectivity goes, there are also those of us that like all this exactly for that reason. The Force is no longer something mystical, it becomes something more real in this world of sci-fi-fantasy. I would assume in a world of people that prefer scientific facts over hocus pocus religions, that this would have been truly appreciated.

Evidently I was wrong.

Snoke is Plagueis Reborn from Vaders Ashes? - Another Star Wars Theory

Ok, so it came to my attention (mostly from watching Jedi Council on Collider where it was brought to my attention there) that there is a theory among some that Snoke is Vader.

Although I too dismiss this idea, as that would completely go against the story of redeeming Vader and it would really in all sense be a big finger at all Star Wars fans ever. We even saw him in a Ghost Form "redeemed". I will go to say that it got me thinking of another theory that kind of mixes many things together into one.

Who is Snoke is the question every Star Wars fan is asking (well, after another question of who is Rey). In my Spoiler Review I mention how I believe that he is indeed Darth Plagueis, you can read that there (Under the "06. Snoke. Is he Darth Plagueis?" bit) were I explain my reasons and all the things that point to him being Darth Plagueis.

Now with this new theory, and imagery from Vader, Snoke, Vaders helmet, and some other ideas out there, I found myself thinking of a new theory that although could be wacky on the one hand, on the other stranger things have happened in the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens - DCF SPOILER REVIEW

Here I take apart some of the main plot themes in The Force Awakens, character evolutions, questions the film might have created and what I thought about all these along with the entirety of the film all together. I even try to nitpick whatever I can possibly nitpick in the film and I also go into making some comparisons to the classic trilogy to back up my personal score of a 10/10 that I believe SW7 deserves.

This is a spoiler heavy review, if you are after the Spoiler Free review you will find it here.

The rest of you that don't mind spoilers or have seen the film, move along... move along.

Star Wars VII - The Force Awakens - MAIN PLOT EXPLAINED

Spoilers ahead (as the title implies), as I dive into giving my thoughts on the SW Episode 7 plot and explaining it along with things that I notice many either complained about or didn't get.

Star Wars - The Force Awakens DCF Review (Spoiler Free)

Star Wars - Plot Holes Everywhere #1

Plot holes, plot holes everywhere. Either that or people that watched the films simply didn't get anything from them or pay enough attention, then ironically play it out as being "true Star Wars fans"

This is the first small batch of "plot-holes" (as some like to call them) that I gathered here to debunk, and/or incorrect comprehensions with regards to the films that need some sorting out. Here goes.

Zack Snyder and DCxSW Mashups... What if it isn't just fun and games?

A Crazy Thought. But what if Snyder is actually making 2 films, and Batman vs Superman comes earlier than 2016?

BATMAN and R2BIN
I know Snyder is teasing or simply trolling us for probably no reason at all with these Star Wars cross Batman/Superman photos... But here is a thought to humour our imaginations. What if they are actually shooting 2 films instead of one and are going through this Justice League cross Batman vs Superman mix-up phase (meaning that Batman vs Superman Dawn of Justice is a codename for both films) to surprise us and the SW mash-ups are their way of hinting it?

An MMO Evaluation - Part 2

An MMO (mostly mmorpg) Evaluation, that is- "My 2 Bits on MMO's thus far." - part 2

I know that the article itself might seem very long, but the truth of the matter is that I am after all not talking about one game alone, but an entire game genre, it's history, my likes and dislikes on it, comparisons to other gaming genres during this time, as well as a small review on titles as well. Taking head on such a large topic cannot be done in just few words, unless the idea is to point out to only some things and keep posting new articles to cover different areas each time. To make one complete reference to it all in one go is indeed a lengthy journey.

Seems there might be hope after all.  Art from ESO (Elder Scrolls Online)

For Part 1 to the article click here.

Now, where to begin, or shall I say continue...

SWG: Star Wars Galaxies

My first introduction to mmo's was Star Wars Galaxies (SWG).
What followed after that first experience was a close reflection of the same thing. Low end graphics, cooldown crowded gameplay, target lock type combat and interface that although was not exactly turn-based, it was certainly closer to a turn-based form rather than real-time. My personal taste on all the above? Is disgust.

My stay in SWG was small, but long enough for me to see the basics. After 15 years of gaming I am a veteran and do not need more than few hours (much less) to understand where a game is going. Now my gaming years have ranked up to 25. The comment "later on the game gets better" is so overrated and overused. No, the game will never get better later, and it is about time people started to realise this. The content will get better, but not the game. It will have the same graphics, the same mechanics, the same animations, and the same gameplay.

The skill trees and the things you unlock are not the reward for playing an rpg for hours, they are reasons you like to play the rpg (meaning that having them from early on in the game is a good start to help you enjoy the game, waiting for 30 dings of leveling up to get to some skill or ability that will make the game fun does not suffice). You should enjoy building up a character, not building towards a character, hence constant rewards are the way to go and also the means to make you move up into the world which you are experiencing, making it more fun as well as more versatile. These extras are there to keep you going instead of boring you out, they are there to be enjoyed and not to be waited on. Content advancement apart from maps, story, enemies and loot, includes skills, traits, abilities etc, and if indeed the gameplay of a game is stale to begin with, making up for it after 20 hours of play with a cool skill or adventurous map is not an excuse and doesn't save the game. I can see screenshots if the most an MMO can give is better maps later on.

If a game is not fun for you within the first 15 mins, most chances are it will never be fun. "It gets better later" is not a phrase that convinces me, and I have put it to the test. Of course I always give the benefit of the doubt, and never try a new title for less than 30-60 mins. That is more than enough to know everything you need to know about a game, where it is headed, and what you can expect. Above all it is more than enough to know if you like it. I have forced myself to keep to those 30-60 mins for titles that I disliked within 15 mins. The result was the same after spending the extra time. Some titles I hit hours of play to try and get into them when I had more time and it still simply didn't work.

My introduction to the mmo genre, SWG, a game I actually enjoyed but only due to my Star Wars fandom.
Seeing Tatooine and the Binary Sunset, as well as laser pistols and lightsabers, was enough to give me smiles.

An MMO Evaluation - Part 1

An MMO (mostly mmorpg) Evalutation, that is- "My 2 Bits on MMO's thus far." - part 1

It's no surprise that someone that loves rpg's would turn in time to also like mmo's. Notice I used the word "like" instead of love, since to be honest with ourselves we all know that mmo's are not really doing a good job to encapsulate the true essence of rpg's, and they never have thus far.

After taking the time to experience them, begining the journey with first tastes from SWG (Star Wars Galaxies) a small while before WoW came out, I find myself putting together a collection of ideas and thoughts, likes and dislikes, on the mmo industry. Mostly dislikes so far but thankfully the last year has seen a small change in this bringing finally a taste of bliss in liking as well. Not nearly enough to justify such a long wait (of almost 10 years) of looking into mmo's to find the recipe that works, or perhaps simply the recipe I liked.

I am in many ways now wasted on the thought of mmo's for they have not delivered to the genre in the way that they should have all this time. Of course this is just my opinion, but isn't everything on gaming based on personal taste and opinion? Having that said, I am now at the point that even if I see something I like, it is dwindled down into a small flicker rather than a flare or flame the way it would have been had I not been involved with the mmo genre for so long.

I had much greater expectations back in the day and indeed I find no reason to hide the fact that I also had many ideas for how the genre should and could have been developed, as well as the directions it should have worked towards achieving. Almost 10 years later and FINALLY these ideas are coming to life! Some I admit came to being during these years, but they where the smaller and at times less important changes I felt should always be a part of mmo's. Even so, some of those ideas have still to be developed or made even today. Not to mention that today, personally, my expectations and ideas on the direction of mmorpg's... correction, my expectations and ideas on the state they should already be IN, are much larger and even more in number.

Subscription based games are a scam!

My "article reply" to an article on F2P games and Subscriptions...

I wrote what seemed or started out as a reply to PCGAMERS article with the title:

Star Wars: The Old Republic’s free-to-play restrictions tweaked, Bioware stress “an ongoing dialogue"

and it quickly escalated to an actual article length piece that I thought I hold on to.

It was mostly in response to those supporting the idea that "if people want the full game they should subscribe" and that they shouldn't complain about the f2p model in SWTOR.

I myself having looked at it (the f2p model) see how flawed it is and, well, it reminds nothing of a proper free 2 play model. I support the idea of subscription games simply not existing at all (take a look at my older article posted here called "Free For All - Challenging Life Itself" to get an idea of my thoughts on this matter generally and how I believe it should work) and so I had my two cents to add to it all.

The amount of tolerance we have as gamers, or even human beings, allows for such things as these (e.g subscription based games) to keep gong on when clearly they should be stopped.

I thought it would be a shame to leave the reply there alone (I would end up forgetting about it myself) and so here it is:

(readers beware, the content is less formal than my usual posts, but I think still worth posting as a cry to gamers to simply STOP with their ignorance on companies taking advantage on them)

....
